Art / Music

Fra Angelico Endowment for Visual Arts

This fund was established in April 2002 by the St. Joseph School art teachers to provide permanent financial support for art education at St. Joseph Schools. The fund is named in honor of Fra Beato Angelico – the Patron Saint of Artists. He was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance who combined the life of a devout friar with that of an accomplished painter. He was called Beato (Italian for blessed) and Angelico (Italian for angel) because the paintings he did were of calm, religious subjects and because of his extraordinary personal piety

We chose Fra Angelico because at St. Joseph School it is our belief that each child is one of God’s blessed angels and what greater gift could he bless his angels with than the ability to create the beauty of their thoughts and feelings through art.

St. Joseph Class Endowed Funds
This program of endowed funds was introduced by the St. Joseph School Endowment at the annual banquet in September 2007. A Class Endowed Fund is a special fund for each individual class beginning with St. Joseph School’s first graduating class of 1930 through the current Kindergarten class. Each year a fund is added for the incoming kindergarten class. Once a minimum of $4,000 is reached in a class fund, the class will then be eligible to make a grant recommendation and for each year there after. The unique benefit to these funds is the class has the opportunity to choose (the purpose) (the item or area of the school) they would like to benefit from their grant from year to year.
